Rats and mice will gnaw on any material as their incisor teeth never stop growing and can cause serious damage to your property.  They can cause electrical fires and spread serious diseases, not to mention their droppings and the horrible odour of their urine.  They are wary creatures, and sometimes can be difficult to eradicate.  If you have chooks, you’ll probably have a rat or two eating their feed.  We would highly recommend a tamperproof rodent bait box or two near the chook shed.   

House mice and field mice can also be a huge problem.  While not as damaging as their larger relatives they can also transfer nasty disease.  House mice may be heard scratching at night.  They are active all year and will feed on food scraps.  You may see their small droppings or smell their urine.
